What Is It

Specialist Concussion & Headache Consults, By Video

A virtual consult is a full clinical appointment with an MHCG clinician, conducted over secure video rather than in person. You'll get the same structured assessment, symptom tracking and management planning we use at our Williamstown clinic, adapted for what can be reliably done at a distance and backed by a clear pathway to in-person review whenever it's needed.

  • Structured symptom scoring at every session, tracked against your own trajectory
  • Sway Medical testing for balance, reaction time and cognitive function, completed on your own phone
  • A defined safety pathway if your symptoms need an in-person review, a GP, or urgent care

Most initial consults run 45–60 minutes and are booked within the week.

Why It Matters

Built For People Who Can't Just Walk In

Not every patient can get to Williamstown. Distance, work, school or simply not having a specialist concussion clinic nearby shouldn't mean settling for less thorough care.

Same Clinical Standard

Delivered by the same clinicians using the same evidence-based protocols as our in-person clinic, not a stripped-down remote version.

Objective, Not Just How You Feel

Sway Medical testing gives us measurable data on balance, reaction time and cognitive function, so recovery decisions aren't based on guesswork.

Connected Care

Your GP or referring physio gets a structured update at every key milestone, not silence between appointments.

Who It's For

Six Situations Where Virtual Care Fits

Some presentations are better suited to in-person review. Where that's the case, we'll tell you plainly and get you the right pathway, not push a video call that isn't the right tool.

Acute

Recent Concussion

Early assessment, symptom monitoring and a clear plan in the days after injury, with an in-person safety net if things don't track as expected.

Sport

Return to Sport

Graduated, AIS-aligned RTP progression with Sway re-testing at each stage, coordinated with your club or coach.

Persistent Symptoms

Ongoing Recovery

Longer, multidisciplinary support for symptoms that haven't resolved on the expected timeline.

Location

Rural & Interstate

Full specialist care without the drive, wherever you're based in Australia.

Family

Paediatric, With a Parent Present

Sessions structured so your child is the primary participant, with you alongside for context and support.

Work

Return to Work

Functional capacity planning tied to your role, coordinated with your employer or case manager where needed.

Why Choose Us

Why Patients Choose MHCG For Virtual Care

Concussion Is Our Focus

Not a general practice offering telehealth on the side. Concussion and headache are what we do.

Honest About Limits

We'll tell you plainly what a video consult can and can't assess, and when in-person review is the safer call.

Evidence-Based

AIS-aligned concussion protocols and the Watson Headache Approach®, not general advice.

One Coordinated Plan

Your GP, physio, school or club all get kept in the loop, without you having to chase updates.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

A smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera, a stable internet connection, and a well-lit, quiet space. We'll send setup instructions and a link before your appointment. If your connection drops, we can switch to phone.

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Most symptom tracking, exercise prescription and functional assessment work well by video. Some hands-on tests, like fine balance and neck assessment, are more reliable in person. If your presentation needs that, we'll say so and arrange it.

We screen for red flags at every session. If anything urgent comes up, we'll stop and direct you to the nearest emergency department immediately, and your GP is notified the same day.

No referral is needed to book a first appointment. If you have one from a GP or physio, bring it along, as it helps us understand your history before we start.

Yes, with a parent or guardian present throughout. We structure paediatric sessions so your child is the main participant, with you there for support and to help answer questions.

Anywhere in Australia. Our clinicians are registered to practise nationally, so location isn't a barrier to getting specialist concussion and headache care.
